When you open Instagram, you land on the “for you” page, and for good reason. That page is unique to you recent mobile phone number data based on your interests and your actions. Everyone sees different content on the landing page. The algorithm determines what you see. And what you don’t see.
Every social media channel has a unique algorithm
This is the formula that determines which content performs better. The emphasis per algorithm, per social media channel, differs. What works well for posting on TikTok, does not necessarily work on LinkedIn. What are the differences?
TikTok: Aiming to go viral
Even more than with other networks, TikTok’s views increase quickly. The TikTok algorithm focuses on showing new content, from accounts you don’t follow yet. This makes it relatively easy for a brand to reach new people, but more difficult to continue to reach current followers. Handy if you need to work on your brand awareness, less suitable for loyalty goals. It seems that the number of followers of an account has (almost) no influence on whether the content created scores well or poorly.
Stay up to date with trends
Like other social media, TikTok’s algorithm looks at users’ previous actions, such as which (type of) accounts they follow, or what they mark search engine optimization mails as interesting. Content in the native language and region scores better. TikTok ‘is all about ‘ trends . Content with trending music or effects scores well.
Reach a large target group
TikTok has been growing rapidly since its launch, but that growth has stagnated in the Netherlands. From 34% it is necessary to work in real conditions growth to 6% this year , to be precise. In terms of total numbers, it is also far behind Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. The idea that you can only reach young people via TikTok has been outdated for a while, as has the idea that you can only promote your product with a dance. Although that is of course worth a try.
